Binance begins funding account migration to spot wallets ahead of stocks rebrand
CIE News ·
Binance started migrating crypto from Funding to Spot Accounts on September 29, 2026. The shift repurposes Funding Accounts into dedicated Stocks Accounts by January 2027.
Binance initiated a platform restructuring on September 29, 2026, transitioning user balances from Funding Accounts into Spot Accounts ahead of a planned conversion to dedicated Stocks Accounts. According to Binance, direct on-chain crypto deposits into Funding Accounts have been closed, leaving USD, USD Coin (USDC), Tether (USDT), USD1, U, and BNB as the only eligible settlement assets for future stock and stock-option trading. The exchange also confirmed the rollout of TradFi USDS-margined perpetual futures contracts alongside updated margin tiers through October 2, 2026.
As reported by cryptotimes.io and coingabbar.com, users can transfer holdings manually using a One-Click Migration tool on the Binance mobile app, while unmigrated balances will automatically transfer in batches starting in January 2027. The platform confirmed that the 1:1 asset migration will not alter total portfolio balances or account security. Connected services, including Binance Pay, Card, Gift Card, and Convert orders, are shifting routing directly to Spot Accounts.
