Market structure

The sequence of swing highs and lows on a chart. Higher highs and higher lows make an uptrend; lower highs and lower lows a downtrend.

Why it matters

Structure is the plainest way to say which way a market is trending — and it is always confirmed late, because a swing is known only after the candles that follow it.
