Chainlink expanded its work with S&P Global Ratings on October 28, 2026, delivering onchain risk evaluations for lending vaults that hold roughly $10 billion.
Chainlink announced an expanded collaboration with S&P Global Ratings on October 28, 2026, to bring Vault Risk Assessment data onchain, according to PR Newswire. S&P Global Ratings reported that lending vault deposits reached approximately $10 billion in September 2026, rising from $1.5 billion two years earlier.
The deployment relies on Chainlink DataLink and the Chainlink Runtime Environment to retrieve and publish the evaluations, with Base acting as the first supported network. A decentralized oracle network achieves consensus on the metrics before publishing them directly onchain. The assessments evaluate portfolio credit quality, liquidity mismatch, vault curators, and protocol security, though the source notes they do not serve as traditional credit ratings.
Johann Eid, Chief Business Officer at Chainlink Labs, stated that delivering the assessments onchain offers institutional-grade, independent risk analysis directly where capital is deployed. The project builds upon earlier work between the two entities that brought S&P Global Ratings' stablecoin assessments onchain.
