Based on reporting by The Block; not yet independently confirmed.

North Korean leadership has rejected FBI accusations linking the country to the $6.3 billion Binance hack, following claims attributing the record crypto theft to state-sponsored hackers.

The sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has officially denied allegations from the FBI claiming North Korea was behind the record $6.3 billion hack of Binance, according to reports cited by The Block. As previously reported, the FBI attributed the breach to the North Korean state-sponsored cyber group known as TraderTraitor.

The agency previously stated that attackers converted stolen assets mainly into Ether (ETH) across decentralized finance platforms and instant swap services. Binance stated that it has replaced approximately 95 percent of the affected assets and resumed phased withdrawals for major cryptocurrencies including Bitcoin (BTC) and ETH, noting it would absorb the financial losses from the theft.
