Aave Deploys Equities Hub on Base to Enable USDC Borrowing Against Tokenized Stocks
CIE News ·
Aave has deployed its Equities Hub under the Aave V4 architecture on the Base Layer 2 network, introducing collateralization support for Coinbase tokenized equities. The deployment allows market participants to supply tokenized equity assets directly into the protocol to borrow USDC stablecoins. Through this mechanism, users can obtain dollar-denominated liquidity against their tokenized U.S. equity positions without having to liquidate their underlying stock holdings.
The lending hub supports seven tokenized equities at rollout, including tokenized representations of Apple and Tesla. Under the operational structure, every tokenized equity asset is backed 1:1 by real stock held by Alpaca Securities under a dedicated Coinbase custody trust. To track market values, enforce collateralization ratios, and govern liquidation mechanisms across the Base Layer 2 system, Aave V4 integrates Chainlink price feeds to supply accurate equity pricing data on-chain.
The deployment on Base is active, enabling verified users to deposit any of the seven supported Coinbase tokenized equity instruments into the Equities Hub contracts to draw USDC loans. By connecting Alpaca Securities' custody framework, Coinbase tokenized assets, and Chainlink oracle infrastructure, the Aave V4 implementation formalizes the use of custodial equity backing within decentralized debt markets.
