Coinbase launches crypto price prediction markets across most US states
CIE News ·
Coinbase introduced live binary event contracts for ten cryptocurrencies, enabling US users outside Nevada to trade price predictions starting at 15-minute intervals.
On October 6, 2026, Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong announced the rollout of live crypto price prediction markets for U.S. customers. The binary event contracts allow traders to wager on whether an asset finishes above or below a strike price across 15-minute, hourly, pre-market, and longer-dated intervals. The feature supports 10 tokens: Bitcoin (BTC), Ether (ETH), Solana (SOL), XRP, Dogecoin (DOGE), BNB, Shiba Inu (SHIB), Zcash (ZEC), NEAR Protocol (NEAR), and Hyperliquid (HYPE).
According to cryptonomist.ch, correct predictions pay out $1.00 while incorrect ones yield $0.00, with position prices reflecting crowd-implied probabilities. Traders can fund contracts directly with USD or USDC. The order books are operated by Kalshi and offered through Coinbase Financial Markets, which operates under Commodity Futures Trading Commission regulation and National Futures Association membership. The service is available across the U.S. with the exception of Nevada.
