Bitcoin (BTC) stalled after retesting $84,000 on October 13, 2026, as crypto markets faced macroeconomic pressure and widespread liquidations. Across the broader market, total crypto liquidations reached between $774 million and $812 million over a 24-hour period, with long positions accounting for more than 84% of that volume. BTC traded in a consolidation range between $82,800 and $83,770.
Macroeconomic headwinds included 10-year U.S. Treasury yields holding between 5.19% and 5.24%, alongside the U.S. Dollar Index trading near 102.23. Additionally, blockhead.co reported that Cleveland Fed President Beth Hammack advocated for smaller, more frequent interest-rate policy adjustments rather than waiting, signaling ongoing monetary restraint. Broader market deleveraging also pushed altcoins lower, with CoinMarketCap reporting a 4% to 5% drop in Internet Computer (ICP) over 24 hours driven by macro conditions rather than project-specific developments.
Institutional flows have also shown cooling demand, with blockhead.co noting net outflows of $681 million from spot Bitcoin ETFs during the week of October 5 to October 9. Spot prices had briefly recovered to around $84,232 on October 12, but remained below the $85,230 resistance level.
