Confirmed by official primary sources.

Coinbase will automatically swap remaining balances of 14 stablecoins to USDC or another supported asset for European retail users on October 30, 2026, to comply with MiCA rules.

Coinbase announced on October 27, 2026, that it will automatically convert remaining balances of 14 non-compliant stablecoins for retail customers in the European Economic Area on October 30, 2026. The exchange suspended buying, selling, and converting the assets following the conclusion of the European Union's Markets in Crypto-Assets transitional period for stablecoin issuers. Users who wish to keep their tokens must withdraw them to an external wallet before the October 30 deadline.

According to CryptoBriefing, the affected stablecoins include USDT, PAX, PYUSD, GUSD, GYEN, DAI, BUST, UST, RAI, PAXG, MUSD, USD1, USDS, and TGBP. Balances remaining on October 30 will be converted at prevailing market rates into MiCA-compliant USD Coin (USDC) or another approved asset or currency. Coinbase noted that deposits of these assets made after the deadline will not appear in account balances or qualify for automatic conversion.

Coinbase Luxembourg S.A., which operates services for EEA retail clients under authorization from the CSSF, said MiCA prohibits it from supporting stablecoins whose issuers lack required regulatory approvals. The company stated it may reconsider a token if it achieves MiCA compliance, but such changes will not reverse completed conversions.
