Slippage
The difference between the price you expected — usually the best price in the book — and the average price you actually got.
Why it matters
Slippage grows with order size and shrinks with liquidity. On a small coin or in a fast market it can cost more than the exchange fee. Limit orders avoid it, at the risk of not being filled.
