Taker
The side of a trade whose order executed at once against an order already waiting in the book — a market order, or a limit order priced to trade immediately.
Why it matters
Takers remove liquidity from the book; exchanges usually charge them a higher fee than makers. On a tape, the colour of a trade shows whether the taker bought or sold.
