Update to UPDATE: ZachXBT raises suspected EU crypto theft estimate to $133M

Based on reporting by crypto.news; not yet independently confirmed.

Kraken restricted accounts linked to a suspected $133 million crypto theft after an additional $27 million was pulled from centralized platforms and laundered through UniswapX and instant exchanges.

Kraken has placed restrictions on accounts tied to a suspected $133 million crypto theft from an unidentified European entity and is collaborating with law enforcement, Cointelegraph reported. As previously reported, on-chain investigator ZachXBT raised his loss estimate to $133 million after tracing an additional $27 million in unauthorized withdrawals.

The siphoned funds were withdrawn from Kraken, OKX, and Crypto.com, primarily in USD Coin (USDC) and Tether (USDT). Bitquery data indicates the attacker swapped $62.98 million of the stablecoins into 27,553 Ethereum (ETH) using UniswapX. Funds were subsequently moved through instant platforms including WellWallet, Kyrrex, and Wagyu into Monero (XMR).

ZachXBT stated on November 3 that some of the additional withdrawals occurred after his initial alert and accused the affected organization of concealing the breach. According to crypto.news, the investigator has identified 15 wallet addresses tied to the transfers and stated the suspect appears to be French-speaking rather than connected to North Korea's Lazarus Group.
