Update to UPDATE: Bitnomial, Kalshi, and Coinbase prepare equity perps after CFTC nod

Based on reporting by Decrypt; not yet independently confirmed.

Seven dual-registered venues can now list equity perpetuals under joint CFTC and SEC oversight, with Kalshi and Coinbase preparing individual stock contracts.

Seven exchange operators hold the dual registration required to list newly cleared equity perpetual futures, according to Decrypt. As previously reported, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission cleared perpetual contracts on individual stocks on November 3, 2026. Under the Commodity Futures Modernization Act of 2000, these derivatives are classified as security futures products, subjecting them to joint regulatory oversight by both the CFTC and the Securities and Exchange Commission.

To list the products, a venue must operate as a CFTC-designated contract market and be notice-registered with the SEC as a national securities exchange. Decrypt reported that the seven qualifying entities are Cboe, CME, Coinbase, Kalshi, Bitnomial, Nadex, and ICE Futures U.S., with five having filed within a single 30-day window in September 2026.

Filings are already underway across multiple platforms. Decrypt reported that Kalshi submitted a filing covering 56 to 58 individual stock names, while Coinbase filed to list perpetual futures on Apple, Tesla, and Nvidia. Bitcoin.com News reported that the contracts function without fixed expiration dates and utilize funding rate mechanisms to keep derivatives prices aligned with spot equities.
