Following earlier clearance for equity perpetual futures, platforms including Bitnomial, Kalshi, and Coinbase are preparing to list or facilitate the products, building on digital asset authorizations.
Platforms including Bitnomial, Kalshi, and Coinbase are preparing to list or facilitate perpetual futures on individual stocks. As previously reported, CFTC Chairman Michael Selig announced on November 3, 2026, that the regulator cleared perpetual futures on individual equities for trading on registered domestic exchanges under Commission Regulation 40.3.
The regulatory step expands on the agency's earlier clearance of digital asset perpetuals, such as Kalshi's Bitcoin (BTC) contract approved on May 29, 2026, as well as no-action relief allowing Coinbase Financial Markets to route clients to offshore liquidity. According to bitcoinmagazine.com and Bitcoin.com News, the perpetual contracts have no fixed expiration dates and rely on funding payments to remain aligned with underlying spot markets.
Domestic listings require dual registration as a designated contract market with the CFTC and a national securities exchange notice registration with the SEC. Selig stated that bringing the perpetual derivative instruments under joint regulatory frameworks aims to onshore activity from unregulated foreign markets.
