UPDATE: Blast outlines sunset timeline and pauses bridge to unwind Lido positions
CIE News ·
Blast has detailed its shutdown process: bridge withdrawals are paused for roughly one week to unwind Lido positions and will then resume with a 24-hour processing time. Users can withdraw through the official interface until October 26, 2026.
As previously reported, Ethereum Layer 2 network Blast has decided to wind down its operations because network expenses have surpassed its income. Following the announcement on October 2, 2026, founder Tieshun Roquerre's project has temporarily halted bridge withdrawals for approximately one week to unwind Lido-staked positions, according to Bankless. After this unwinding stage, bridge withdrawals are expected to resume with processing intervals reduced to 24 hours.
Bankless reported that Blast's total value locked has fallen to roughly $32 million, down from a historical peak of more than $2 billion accumulated ahead of its February 2024 launch. Users have been instructed to withdraw assets using the official web interface before October 26, 2026. After this date, withdrawing capital will require interacting directly with the underlying bridge smart contracts on Ethereum.
