Wallets linked to the U.S. government moved over $100 million in BTC and BNB on October 6, 2026, routing Bitcoin to Coinbase Prime, though a sale has not been confirmed.

Wallets tied to the U.S. government moved more than $100 million in cryptocurrency on October 6, 2026, according to blockchain intelligence firm Arkham reported by CoinDesk. The transactions included 833.599 BTC, valued at roughly $71.6 million, routed through two unlabeled addresses before landing in Coinbase Prime deposit addresses. Additionally, a wallet moved 40,285 BNB, worth $31.63 million, through two successive unlabeled addresses.

The transferred Bitcoin originated from funds forfeited in the Potapenko and Turogin case, accounting for 568.7 BTC, as well as 264.9 BTC seized from the Bitfinex hack. The transferred BNB came from assets seized from Alameda Research. A sale of these transferred tokens has not been confirmed.

The U.S. government continues to hold around $27.5 billion in cryptocurrencies obtained through law enforcement seizures, according to CoinDesk. Market commentator Jose Rosell noted on X that a transfer does not equal a sale, citing a March 2025 executive order directing forfeited Bitcoin into a Strategic Bitcoin Reserve.
