Bitcoin (BTC) dropped to near $82,000 following a $1 billion liquidation event, with spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds recording $244 million in net outflows on October 8, 2026. As previously reported, U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs had recorded net withdrawals of over $484 million in the preceding session.

While Bitcoin and Ethereum funds faced net redemptions, XRP ETFs remained the only crypto funds in the green during the period, according to CoinDesk. Cryptotimes.io reported that liquidations across the derivatives market heavily hit long positions, pushing BTC lower as spot ETF flows turned negative.

Despite the consecutive redemptions, total net assets across U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs remained at approximately $110.68 billion, while market analysts identified the $82,000 area as a key support zone.
