UPDATE: Blur sets Nov. 12 frontend shutdown as monthly volume drops 99.5%
CIE News ·
Blur will close its website on Nov. 12, 2026, and halt Blend lending as monthly volume fell 99.5% from peak levels, according to CoinDesk.
Blur will shut down its website on Nov. 12, 2026, following the marketplace's earlier announcement that its frontend would close while smart contracts remain operational onchain. Its NFT lending protocol, Blend, will halt arranging new loans, CoinDesk reported. Borrowers must settle their debt by Nov. 12, 2026, or let their collateral default, after which a separate tool will be released to withdraw assets from the lending system.
The closure follows a volume decline of more than 99.5%, according to DefiLlama data cited by CoinDesk. Monthly trading activity dropped from roughly $1.43 billion at its peak in March 2023 to under $7 million in March 2026. The marketplace had recorded $0 in protocol revenue across the past three years due to a zero-fee model, according to Token Terminal records.
While the frontend interface is closing, the underlying Ethereum contracts will persist, and BLUR tokenholders will keep authority over the platform's fee switch mechanism. Following the closure details, the BLUR token fell more than 20% to trade around $0.015.
