World introduced a verification tool suite for financial institutions alongside design partners such as Bain Capital and Pantera Capital, Decrypt reported.

World co-founder Alex Blania announced World ID for banking and finance on October 18, 2026, Decrypt reported. The suite is intended to help financial institutions confirm that genuine users are behind transactions and customer requests. According to World, initial design partners include Bain Capital, OpenExchange, Outtake, Pantera Capital, and VanEck Funds.

The system uses three cryptographic proofs through the World ID application: Proof of Human via Orb hardware, Proof of Presence through a selfie check, and Proof of Attributes using government IDs. World stated that banks could apply these proofs to authenticate ACH and wire transfers or account recoveries without storing personal data. The project also rolled out a beta developer toolkit called AgentKit to let users delegate proofs to AI agents.

World cited an incident where an engineering firm lost about $25.6 million to deepfake callers in 2024, noting a Deloitte projection that AI fraud losses in the U.S. may hit $40 billion by 2027. The project reported that over 18 million users hold a Proof of Human ID, though its biometric scanning has faced regulatory bans and deletion orders in jurisdictions including Hong Kong, South Korea, Spain, and Kenya.
