Spread
The gap between the best bid and the best ask. A tight spread means it is cheap to trade right now.
Why it matters
Buying at the ask and selling at the bid straight away loses the spread. On BTC/USDT it is usually one tick (one cent); on small coins it is often much wider, and it widens on any market when liquidity drops.
