On November 2, 2026, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority upgraded its EnsembleTX interbank settlement infrastructure to operate 24/7, according to crypto.news. The monetary regulator revealed the move during Hong Kong FinTech Week, confirming that financial institutions and their clients can now settle real-value transactions outside standard banking hours.
The regulator also confirmed that recognized dealers concluded secondary-market trial trades of tokenized Exchange Fund Bills. The HKMA intends to incorporate regulated stablecoins into future testing phases for these short-term government debt instruments, though it has not established a specific starting date for the stablecoin integration.
