Coinbase begins migrating perpetual futures infrastructure to Deribit

CIE News ·

Coinbase is shifting its international perpetual contracts to the Deribit engine, introducing native crypto options and a brief trading downtime for global users.

Coinbase initiated the migration of its Coinbase International Exchange perpetual futures infrastructure to the Deribit platform on October 1, 2026. The transition routes both institutional and retail perpetual contracts through Deribit's matching engine, which is now part of Coinbase. A planned trading downtime of 30 to 60 minutes was scheduled to complete the order book transition.

The integration enables native cryptocurrency options on the primary Coinbase application and web interfaces for eligible international customers. According to Coinbase, the migration is handled automatically for standard accounts in order to boost liquidity and execution speed.
