Cross-chain protocol NEAR Intents disclosed an exploit that resulted in the theft of $3.8 million on October 1, 2026, according to CoinMarketCap and en.cryptonomist.ch. The project attributed the breach to an issue between its Omni deposit and withdrawal infrastructure and its smart contracts, which permitted unauthorized outflows from a BNB Smart Chain (BSC) hot wallet. NEAR co-founder Illia Polosukhin confirmed that the financial impact was limited solely to Tether (USDT) on BSC. The team reported that the contract flaw has been patched, deposits and withdrawals across 11 networks were temporarily paused for maintenance, and affected users will be fully reimbursed.
