As previously reported, Bitget utilized its protection fund to cover $388 million in user losses after a security breach. Cointelegraph reported that the incident accounted for nearly 31% of the $1.26 billion lost across 247 security incidents in the third quarter of 2026, marking a 53.9% increase quarter-over-quarter. Industry losses reached $769 million in September alone. Bitget CEO Gracy Chen stated that the exchange is returning to normal operations, with its protection fund balance standing at $309 million.
