Cryptocurrency derivatives markets saw $172 million in leveraged liquidations over the 24 hours leading into October 6, 2026, according to cryptotimes.io. Bitcoin (BTC) accounted for $53.03 million of the total, comprising $37.43 million in long liquidations and $15.60 million in shorts, while the single largest wiped-out position was an $11.85 million BTC/USDT trade on Binance Futures. Meanwhile, aggregate Bitcoin futures open interest declined by $1.4 billion to $36.6 billion as hot capital share climbed to 19.5%, CryptoSlate reported.
