Input Output published plans on October 20, 2026, for Cardano's Dijkstra hard fork, which initiates the Leios upgrade to boost capacity by 3x to 5x initially, subject to testing and votes.
Input Output outlined a staged deployment roadmap on October 20, 2026, for Cardano's Leios upgrade, which seeks an initial three to five times increase in transaction capacity. According to crypto.news, the rollout is designed to begin with the Dijkstra hard fork, with long-term scaling targets reaching up to 15 times depending on network testing and governance approvals.
The Dijkstra hard fork requires approval from 60% of delegated representative (DRep) stake, 51% of stake pool operator (SPO) stake, and two-thirds of the Constitutional Committee, crypto.news reported. Ahead of the fork, a constitutional amendment establishing parameter limits must achieve 75% DRep support and two-thirds approval from the Constitutional Committee.
Activating Leios requires stake pool operators to register BLS voting keys, with Input Output estimating that between 90% and 95% of delegated stake must participate, according to cryptonews.net. The architecture introduces endorser blocks to process pending transactions alongside standard Praos blocks, requiring at least 75% active stake to certify each endorser block. Input Output plans to run live mainnet load tests before implementing further capacity changes.
Key facts
- Targets 3x to 5x throughput
- Requires Dijkstra hard fork
- Needs 90-95% stake registration
