Based on an official regulatory or court document.

Binance initiated Recovery Update #8 on November 5, 2026, resuming withdrawals for 69 pairs across six chains after replenishing 98% of $6.34 billion drained in an exploit tied by the FBI to TraderTraitor.

Binance launched Recovery Update #8 on November 5, 2026, at 04:00 UTC, reopening staged withdrawals for 69 network-asset pairs across six blockchains covering 62 tokens. The move advances earlier recovery efforts following an October 29 security breach in which hot wallets were drained of $6.34 billion, an exploit attributed by the FBI to North Korean threat actor TraderTraitor.

The service resumption applies to assets on Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, Base, TRON, Polygon, and Sui. Binance stated that it has replenished 98% of the stolen user balances using internal exchange resources, improving on the 95% figure disclosed previously. The exchange noted that the remaining 2% is being acquired through open-market and over-the-counter purchases.

The update comes after an engineer's device was breached during the late-October incident. Following the initial freeze, Binance processed $4.65 billion in gross withdrawals against $1.01 billion in deposits in an early wave, resulting in a $3.64 billion net outflow from its reported $171 billion in assets under management.
